Hello!  I'm Alan Mak Tin Loon. 
I'm an investor-preneur who seeks to protect the legacies of great businesses, as I did for both my late grandfather and dad.

 

          Oxbridge & Mak was a property development and construction company which was built to continue the legacy of my late grandfather.  He was well known for his virtue of "honesty, integrity and hard work."  I felt I had the obligation to survive his beautiful trade and legacy.  That was how Oxbridge & Mak was born, and from small little projects of renovation, we grew to take on large multi-million projects.  

 

          My last biggest deal was a JV project to build a twin towers near Bandar Malaysia for an estimated GDV of US$100 million (RM420 million).  At the same time, I was blessed with the most wonderful gift of my life, the arrival of my first child (who was born exactly on our favourite lucky number: 28).  That was also the time I took up my career in the top end of corporate life being a Business Development Director of a Singaporean Public Listed Developer (TEE International).

 

          I was settled in the UK (with a British PR) since 2003.  I was based in London, Oxford and northern UK where I truly enjoyed the best of British life (plus a huge fan or Mr. James Bond).  I loved the country-side life, living alongside football celebrities like Steve Gerrard and Robbie Fowler.  Also the amazing intellectual elitism of Oxford's laid back environment and the very best of the world in the heart of London while calling Canary Wharf our second home, in which I began my M&A career in.  Since then, I utilized my trainings and connections from Oxford University to grow my business, and reviewed over 200 hundred different companies for acquisitions, both for my partners and my high-net worth clients, including a few friends who are billionaires.

 

          In early 2019, I had to answer a different calling.  One that I knew my ailing father has limited time left in this world.  To me, nothing is more important in this world than family.  I left everything behind in London to spend the remaining time to fulfil all my late-father's wishes, which includes taking up his artisanal trade and skill of making beautiful 'rendang' curries.  The same time my dad passed on, I got news of the arrival of our second child.  My dad even passed me her name in my dreams, which literally meant, 100 million in Chinese.

          I couldn't thank the Universe enough for the most amazing blessings I have in my life.  From finding my beautiful 'soul' mate (who is also my business partner) to the miraculous 'wonder' of my two beautiful children.  And being surrounded with my awesome larger family.  Within our businesses, we have amazing team of workers who are dedicated, loyal and full of 'life.'  We think of them like our very own family and together, we have the most amazing fun work time. 

 

          I believe life has major plans for me to follow.   As Covid time has given me the space to revalue again what is most important, I understand well now how "family, filial piety and relationships" means a lot to me.  Not only have we managed to keep all our businesses sustainable with one of the most challenging economic times, we have managed to record impressive growth over the period without firing even one single employee.

          I am now in the path of building my M&A group into a large global conglomerate.  I love Warren Buffet's style of unrushed investments that grow in perpetuity.  As I have did for my late-granddad and dad, I believe I will treat new companies and employees with the same duty of care.  I look forward in working together with you for a better future for our next generations!  To generate value, wealth and abundance for all!
